The 2011 Maritime Festival will take place on Saturday, October 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Children’s Beach and at Brant Point.  The purpose of the Maritime Festival is to celebrate the joy of living on an island and to experience time-honored maritime activities on and beside the sea that surrounds it.

The festival will be packed with free activities for the whole family, on the water, beach and grass:  boat races, shucking contests, entertainment by local musical groups, art projects and face painting are just a few of the programs that will be offered by Nantucket’s non-profit organizations.  Food will be available for purchase from Nucci’s and the Sons of American Legion.
